Electrolysis Pre/Post Care

Electrolysis is the only FDA approved method of permanent hair removal. It is safe and effective when performed by a professional electrologist. Post treatment it is perfectly normal for slight reddening and/or swelling to occur in the treatment area.

During the consultation your electrologist will discuss possible reactions according to your general health history, hair removal history, skin condition, hair type and anything else that pertains to your personal treatment. For best results please follow the treatment prep, day of treatment guidelines and post treatment care guidelines, these will help to make sure you receive optimal results from your treatments.

 Treatment Prep

Between appointments DO NOT tweeze, wax or thread. You CAN trim with scissors/shave; also acceptable you may bleach or laser if in treatment protocol and discussed with your electrologist. After ANY cutting of a hair we will need three to five days growth prior to treatment.

48 hours before treatment limit sun exposure and stop using all exfoliating products; such as Retinol, Enzymes and Chemical Exfoliates.

If your session includes the groin, please make sure the area has been trimmed, exfoliated and cleaned.

 Day of Treatment

Remove all makeup on the designated treatment area with a double cleanse if necessary. This will guarantee that when we clean the area with 70% Alcohol or Hydrogen Peroxide prior to treatment no makeup is present.

If you are using Zensa Numbing Cream, apply 30-45 minutes prior to treatment on clean skin and occlude (cover) with clear wrap.

Limit and reduce products containing caffeine prior to treatment; (caffeine stimulates nerve endings which can make the treatment uncomfortable), instead make sure to hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!

Treatment Post Care

Use anti-bacterial agents such as Witch Hazel and 70% Alcohol. Apply with a sterile 100% cotton ball and clean hands. Keep hands off the treated area.

Do not use creams that are not advised by your electrologist or any products containing oil for 24-72 hours or until any possible scabs are gone. Acceptable post treatment products can include: Zensa Healing Cream, Finipil, Pure Aloe & Zinc.

Minimize exposure to the sun for 24 hours after treatment.

No facial or other skincare service for at least three days after treatment.

Do not use makeup, soap with wax fillers or perfume until scabs appear. If no scabbing occurs in 24 hours, makeup can then be applied.

If scabbing occurs, DO NOT remove them. Scabbing is a natural healing process and removing scabs can cause self-inflicted scars. At your next appointment, make sure your electrologist is aware of this reaction so we can adequately treat your skin and hair.
