Consultations are REQUIRED for any new client to Orchard House no matter the amount of electrolysis you have had elsewhere.

How to prepare for  your consultation:

  • Come with a clean face:

We mean it, freshly washed and no makeup. A clean face helps speed up our time together so we can see your skin in its natural state.

*If you’re having body/groin electrolysis done, please come freshly showered.

  • Hair grown out 3-5 days

We need minimum 1/8” of hair growth to work with. Depending on how quickly your hair grows please plan accordingly.

  • Know your medications, allergies, sensitivities & skincare products

We’ll want to know all medications and natural supplements as well as anything and everything you’re allergic or sensitive too and anything that goes on your skin!

  • Drink your water

Hydrated skin is happy skin. It is also much easier to perform your consultation mini session when your skin is hydrated.

  • Be open minded

Chances are you have read a lot, or experimented with at home hair removal procedures. Electrolysis is a slow but permanent solution to your unwanted hair growth. If you’re unsure why you’re having excessive hair growth your Electrologist is here to help you problem solve. That requires discussion and problem solving. We are here, we are available, and we are excited to help you on your hair removal journey.

 MINI SESSION

Once all paperwork has been filled out we will begin a 5-10 minute mini treatment session where we will choose probe size, modality and test settings. This short session allows for the electrologist to create a treatment plan, talk pain management, and how to prepare your skin for longer treatment sessions.

Following your consultation mini session we require a 24-hour wait period before your first session to make sure there are no adverse reactions to the area that was treated during your mini session.

General Health History

There are minimal contraindications that will restrict us from performing electrolysis; for some clients a doctor’s note will be needed to continue. Knowing allergies and medications is critical to give the client the best possible outcome with hair removal. Sometimes the reason for excessive/persistent hair is still unknown but a general health history allows us to troubleshoot and have a starting point while also determining starting settings.

Hair Health and Removal History

Former methods of hair removal can change the condition of the hair and skin; the hair may be distorted (J-shaped, corkscrew, S- Shaped, U-shaped) which can change the modality needed as well as lets us know if you’re more prone to ingrown hairs, scarring, bruising, bumps, hyperpigmentation or keloids. After you have completed your electrolysis journey with us we want your skin to look happy, healthy and beautiful.

Normal Hair Growth Cycles & Regrowth

As long as there is a supply of nourishment (blood) to the hair, it will continue to grow. Electrolysis is used to eliminate the supply of nourishment to the hair.

Hair goes through three growth stages.

1. Anagen: growth stage

Anagen is the first stage of hair growth in which hairs are growing deeper and longer. The hair is also being supplied with an ever-increasing flow of blood, which will make the hair coarser and the Dermal Papilla stronger. This is the BEST stage to treat the hair in.

2. Catagen: shedding stage

- Catagen is the second stage of hair growth in which the hair is reaching maturity, blood supply stops and the hair no longer becomes coarser or longer. The follicle begins to close up preparing the hair to shed. While treating a hair in this stage of growth is not optimal it is better than no treatment at all.

3. Telogen: resting stage

- Telogen is the third and final stage of hair growth. The hair is no longer growing at this stage and is instead dormant and resting; there is no blood supply, growth, or cell division taking place in the follicle. Treating the hair in this stage will remove it, allowing an Anagen hair to replace it.

 Regrowth

It is important to note that a treated hair follicle will remain dormant until enzymes trigger our system to begin blood flow and restarting the growth cycle again. This process will produce another hair, though it will not be as coarse. The reason the hair will be finer is because prior treatment destroyed a portion of the Dermal Papilla which restricts it from providing a great flow of blood to the hair and depriving it of essential nourishment to grow back completely. By continuing treatments all blood-flow to the hair will eventually be eliminated and growth terminated. With subsequent treatments, finer and finer hairs will appear until non at all appears.

 Pre/Post Care

Your electrologist will give you guidelines that need to be followed, if you have questions about anything that is on there please let them know so they can work with you. Following these guidelines will give you the best results.

 Treatment Plan

Based on a personal and confidential consultation, your electrologist will design a treatment plan that addresses your specific hair removal needs. Your treatment plan will include session length, frequency and tips and tricks to get the most out of your sessions.

The first treatment plan you will be given will cover your initial 3 months of treatment; after your first 3 months have been completed, your hair, skin, medical history, and progress will all be reevaluated and your treatment plan may change.
